Welcome to Trackers

Welcome to Trackers! This wiki is about playing the Game of Tracking with kids. It can include pro tips on what to pack, skills you can train, and even how to share the skills we teach. Here is are some good places to start:

Game of Tracking

What is the Game of Tracking? It's a way of nature connection that inspires, motivates, and energizes youth to organize into self-directed Trackers Teams. The Game of Tracking prepares youth for a lifetime of adventure and connection to family, nature, and many generations.

Trackers Code

The heart of our Teams is the Trackers Code—a set of values leading to deeper benefits for your child, family, and the more than human world. The Trackers Code is made up of the Purpose, Compass, and Call.

Village Elements

Everyone in the Game of Tracking is called a Tracker. Whether we’re fishing, learning archery, or role-playing as a Wizard, we are Tracking. A Tracker is mindful, always observing the world around them. A Tracker pays attention to subtle clues and seeks out how to be truly helpful. A Tracker adventures by the Trackers Code. Youth in the Game of Tracking are players on a Trackers Team. While roles of adults are Guide, Guardian, and Elder.

Trackers Team

When youth come to our programs, they join a Team—a fellowship in search of adventure. The role of the Team? To care for each other, and for family, nature, and other generations.

Trackers Guides

The role of our Guides? To inspire and energize youth to self-organize and self-direct their Team.

Relics

Relics are what we call the “game pieces youth use to engage in the Game of Tracking. They are symbols of the Trackers Code, along with a reminder to practice certain skills that help kids grow. The three Trackers Relics are:

Core Elements

Core Elements involve what a Tracker needs to know to play the Game of Tracking. They involve core routines that turn your awareness to the greater connection and the unknown.

Guild Elements

Guild Elements expand the Game of Tracking into the Four Guilds. This includes Rangers, Wilders, Mariners, and Artisans.
