Game

Safety

  • Scout playing area for hazards: tripping objects, stinging insects, trash, and much more.
  • Avoid collisions. Emphasize that participants must maintain control at all times.
  • Mark the end zone so no one trips.

Mission

Define a playing area with two "endzones". For example, two backpacks on the ground that define a line. The game has three animals with actions:

  • Bear Raise arms overhead and growl. Bear eats (beats) salmon.
  • Salmon Put palms of hands together, waving hands back and forth in a swimming motion. Salmon eats (beats) mosquito.
  • Mosquito Bring hands together in front of nose, point index fingers forward, make a buzzing sound. Mosquito eats (beats) bear.

Divide into two teams. Each team decides on which animal they are, plus a "back-up" option (in case of tie). Line up, facing the other team half way (between end zones) with at least six feet of space between the opposing lines.

The Pathfinder calls "3, 2, 1, Go!" Each team plays the motion/sound of their first animal. The Pathfinder quickly calls who won. In a tie, teams switch to their back-up option. The winning team chases and tries to tag the losing team; the losing team turns and runs towards their endzone, trying to get behind their "sanctuary" line before being tagged. Participants that are tagged join the other team, and the process repeats. The goal is to get every person on one team.
