Story

It is a new moon (dark) and your Trackers Team must navigate their way across the terrain completely in the dark. Any light will be spotted by the opposing team by their recon point on the high ridge. Through intense training, your Team's Pathfinder has developed incredible night vision powers, so they can lead the way with quiet, whispered directions.

Action Call

Can the Pathfinder support the team to get everyone through the night? Can you move slowly, seeing with your hands, hearing, smell, and taste? Will you shift from one animal form to the next? Fox and deer walking, weasel stalking, and cougar crawling?

Game

Safety

  • Both Guide and Cloak verify safety parameters.
  • Scout playing area for hazards: dangerous objects, stinging insects, trash, and much more.
  • Trackers should be able to meet the challenge. Only choose terrain a team is ready for.
  • AVOID: bodies of water and areas with steep drops.
  • Remind players they may run into each other. As soon as they do, they must back down to maintain respectful contact and avoid additional contact.

Mission

Set safe boundaries around the area of play. One Cloak is the safety, it is up to them to make sure everyone stays in those boundaries while one Pathfinder gives directions.

All other Trackers beyond the lead Pathfinder and Cloak use their Bands as blindfolds. Their goal is to navigate the area from start to end point, moving in Animal Forms as often possible. Natural elements can be touched to gain awareness, but other players should be sensed and given their own space.

The Pathfinder acts as a mem, gently coaching and supporting the blindfolded Trackers with Truly Helpful directions. In addition to warning of obstacles, the Pathfinder can encourage and maintain contact with their blindfolded teammates to ease the anxiety of moving without sight.

Modify

Guided The Guide can call directions in the game so everyone can play.

Target Acquired The Pathfinder guides teammates not to the end of a course, but to a specific objective. This can include finding or interacting with a specific object among the course.

Dark Tangle Two Trackers Teams start at opposing ends and cross the playing area. If two Trackers make contact, they are out and join their Pathfinders.
