The following provides standards for evacuation and EMS services.

Organizational Evacuation

  • Food poisoning
  • Snake bite, not poisonous
  • Asthma attack with inhaler available
  • Specific broken bones (see list below of EMS Activated Breaks)
  • Cut requiring sutures but not uncontrolled bleeding
  • Hypo/hyperglycemic episode with no loss of consciousness
  • Oral injury: tooth knocked out, broken tooth
  • Mild hypothermia
  • Dislocations, except hips

EMS Activation

  • Head, neck, back injuries
  • Seizure
  • Snake bite (poisonous)
  • Severe asthma attack, (no inhaler or no improvement with inhaler)
  • Chest trauma
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Broken femur, pelvis, spine
  • Severe burns to face, hands, genitals, airway; 2nd to 3rd degree burns greater than 1-5% of body surface area
  • Lightning strike
  • Anaphylaxis if EPI administered
  • Chest pain or other symptomatic cardiac events that don’t subside
  • Symptomatic, severe abdominal pain
  • Stroke
  • Heat stroke
  • Labor (childbirth)
  • Hip dislocation
  • Altered consciousness, or unconscious patient
  • Serious head/spinal injury with appropriate mechanism of injury
  • Visible shock or shock-related problems
